Winter is coming, Christmas with it, and this year especially people are hoping it can provide plenty of respite from the rest of 2020. The good news is this looks like it will be the case for PC gamers at least, with an impressive line-up of big releases vying for your attention this season. So whether you're a seasoned gamer or looking for a gift to offer someone else, here are three of the biggest upcoming releases to enjoy on gaming PCs in the UK:

Baldur's Gate 3

The Baldur's Gate series has been popular for over 20 years since the release of the original game in December 1998; an RPG heavily inspired by Dungeons & Dragons. It was followed by an expansion pack and a sequel, which itself had an expansion, as well as spinoff titles developed for console that kept the series relevant in the early 2000s. But a standalone third title never materialised despite its announcement in 2002 and the series had to wait until 2012 for a resurgence with the release of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, a remake of the original. Fast-forward to 2020 and we finally have Baldur's Gate 3, with no connection to that cancelled third game and something of a reboot for the series. Taking place a century after events of the second game, this makes it accessible for both long-time fans and new players alike. It's currently available in early access so if you like tactical RPG games or D&D inspired fantasy settings, this PC title is worth checking out.

Cyberpunk 2077

Set in the near future; a fictional American megacity; wide range of customisation and growth options to shape your character as you see fit. Plus, it stars Keanu Reeves. For many PC gamers, Cyberpunk 2077 will seem like a perfect set-up for 'game of the year' material. Early signs are promising, with California's fictional Night City looking like a beautiful neon-lit setting that players will love exploring. Minigames such as hacking, boxing and martial arts could keep you occupied for hours while the story doesn't stop when you fail a quest, with multiple endings to be discovered depending on playstyle. This is one not to be missed on all gaming PCs in the UK this year.

Godfall

If fast paced action RPG's are more your thing, you're going to want to check out Godfall. It leans into a high fantasy setting, putting you in the shoes of a knight as you attempt to prevent an apocalyptic event, with the world split into five realms: Earth, Fire, Water, Air and Spirit. There are also multiple weapon classes to choose from, letting players forge their own unique style of gameplay. As it's a totally original PC title you don't need to worry about catching up on lore either. With so many exciting releases coming this winter, there's never been a better time to get started in PC gaming or upgrade your existing hardware.
